No One Saw Him Disembark (2024)
No One Saw Him Disembark is a non-narrative journey through a forest and castle ruins. This durational film explores a bardo realm that may only exist in the mind. It's photographic slow-takes blur the line between the artist's memory, fantasy and reality and offers a meditation on in-between places and a reverent reflection on liminality and entropy. The protagonist of this film is a historical site in a state of ruin — Buchanan castle was built in the period of Scottish romanticism. Its walls now crumble along with the idealized and romanticized past it represents. The film is shot on an smartphone in locations that the artist has squatted and is based on his experience of home, memory and identity as unstable and fluid constructs.
